Coalition Urges House Appropriators to Reject Title 42 Poison Pill Amendment

The American Immigration Council joined over 200 organizations in opposing the inclusion of a provision in the Fiscal Year 2023 appropriations bills that would codify into law an indefinite extension of the controversial and harmful Title 42 policy. The provisions would mandate the continuation of Title 42 until such time as the COVID-19 National Emergency is lifted, which could last for years. The letter highlights the ongoing harm to asylum seekers caused by Title 42 and emphasizes that Title 42 has also failed as a border management policy.
